Peter’s SEVEN Falls – Part 4
Peter Failed because he forgot that VENGEANCE BELONGS TO GOD.
Text: Mathew 26:50-52 47 The words were barely out of his mouth when Judas (the one from the Twelve) showed up, and with him a gang from the high priests and religious leaders brandishing swords and clubs. 48 The betrayer had worked out a sign with them: “The one I kiss, that’s the one—seize him.” 49 He went straight to Jesus, greeted him, “How are you, Rabbi?” and kissed him. 50 Jesus said, “Friend, why this charade?” 51 Then they came on him—grabbed him and roughed him up. One of those with Jesus pulled his sword and, taking a swing at the Chief Priest’s servant, cut off his ear. 52 Jesus said, “Put your sword back where it belongs. 53 All who use swords are destroyed by swords. 54 Don’t you realize that I am able right now to call to my Father, and twelve companies—more, if I want them—of fighting angels would be here, battle-ready? But if I did that, how would the Scriptures come true that say this is the way it has to be?”
The time came for Judas to betray Jesus with a Kiss. And with that kiss, the religious leaders men arrested Jesus. At that moment, Peter who had with him a small sward with him all the time, cut off the chief priest’s servants ear. Then Jesus told Peter, Why did you do that? Why do you try to take revenge? Don’t you know that I will take care of it?
Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. (NIV).
While Jesus call’s Judas, Who was betraying him “My Friend”, Peter wants to take Revenge on the person who came to arrest Jesus.
Dear Friends, The moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior, Jesus comes into us. Because the world hates Jesus, they will hate us. Jesus said, “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me (Mt 24:9). People will harm you. Try to destroy your life. Speak evil things about you. Bring falls accusations against you. what will be your response to them?
Most of the times, when a person say’s something against us, we counter attack by saying something about them. In Psalms 57:4, David says, “I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.”
We can hurt people, Wound People, Destroy the lives of People with our words. Our tongue is like a SWARD. It can wound people’s heart. We too like Peter take revenge through our words. When a person say’s anything bad about you, Writes a Petition against you, When you are falsely accused, fall at the feet of Christ. We must allow God to bring judgment or correction to them.
